The spreader light switch in my domelight is broken. Push in and nothing happens. I have to replace the switch which unscrews from the outside of the dome itself but I cannot figure out how to take down the entire light so that I can make sure of the make and model of the switch. Does it unscrew or pop off or something else? Thanks.

Gently pry the lens out with a srewdriver. You will then be able to unscrew the dome light from the hardtop and remove the switch. I have seen threads on here before about where you can get a switch, but don't know myself. I do remember that they are cheap and easy to get. Try a search on here, you should probably be able to find more info. Often, using the switch frequently can clean the contact enough that it will start working again. I have friends who's switch almost never works after the winter and after using it a bunch it starts working again and is fine all season.

I've just done this in the last week. Once you get the light down the switches are accessable.
Replacement switches are available from Digikey for less than $2.00. The switch from Digikey was the same brand as what was installed in mine. Part number 545PB-ND is the one I used. It is only listed for 5 amps, so not too sure how durable it will be, but looks identical to the one I removed. You may want to change the other switch too (for the helm light) and again from Digikey the part number I used was 522PB-ND which was $2.50.

Thanks for the help but I still do not know who makes the entire fixture. I can't seem to find it on either the Perko or Guest sites.

Hello Mark,

A very timely post...as I am beginning to address some discrepancies on my '99 GW Sailfish. Took the dome lt switch from the mid-cabin berth and didn't want to spend $35 to replace the lamp assembly when unable to find a swith that would fit. MUCH APPRECIATED!!
And welcome to the Forums!

Best wishes and,
Thank you!

Hello Henry,

In my case, the dome light was "Perko."

Mike

BTW, West Marine may have a replacement if that is the route you wish to go....
