How to clean compound off rub rail?

I compounded my boat and there is a bit if compound from glancing on the rub rail. What do you guys use to get it off? This stuff is pretty defiant and not coming off very easily. I was using 3M buffing compound and I orbital buffing pad. I also got a bit on my bottom paint. I had it taped but the buffer busted it off before I could say abracadabra!!

Yup, acetone.
You will be surprised at the amount of dirt that comes off. One hint is to use enough acetone to keep a rag wet and change rags often. You need a relatively clean rag or the solvent will redeposit the crud back on the rub rail.
After cleaning use 303 protectorant or what I use, Mop and Glo to seal the rail. Both work OK not great and you need to clean and reapply several times a seasons if you want to keep that clean look.

Had the same happen to me this year by a sub par detailer. I used ammonia and it worked well with some elbow grease.
