Hi all,

I'm attaching some photos of the bracket that came on my Adventure. Is it missing a piece? Other brackets that I've seen have some kind of plate on the back, or a block of wood on the back, that the kicker mounts onto. I just don't understand how I'm supposed to attach a small outboard to this without some other piece?

Thanks as always.

p.s. I find that I have to click once on each photo for the full image to display, and then the attachment location is visible.

Yes, the wood plate is missing. Take a look at various marine retailers - maybe you can buy a replacement mount - either wood or composite/plastic. But, it would be very easy to make one out of a few thicknesses of 3/4" marine plywood epoxied together - ideally epoxy coated on the outside (possibly glassed) and painted, along with some heavy aluminum or SS angle. At the other end of the spectrum, you could make due with 2x4's for the time being!

Google search "OMC auxiliary motor bracket" and you'll find a few good photos of the pieces you're missing. Looks like you're missing the motor mounting plate and the 2 angle brackets that hold it onto the piece you have. Also looks like the motor mounting plate has an aluminum cap on it.

I thought your bracket might use a spring (hidden from view in the pictures) to help lift the motor, but after seeing Eric's picture it appears you may be missing the hydraulic piston, too. In light of this... it might be better to just get a new one. But of course it can't hurt to look around.

Dennis and Eric,

Thanks very much. That's what I needed to know!
