Hi,
Does anyone have any tips or tricks to get the metal collar over the plastic sleeve that goes over the top of the water pump impeller on the HPDI's (2002 200HP)? How much force should I be applying to that collar to get it on. From what I read around the net, it just "slips" on. That's not happening for me.
Thanks,
Bob

Alright, I answered my own question. I used a large metric adjustable wrench and set it for just over the size of the shaft, then slid the wrench over the shaft just above the collar and hit it down with a rubber mallet (metric or standard mallet, doesn't matter). Whew!

Hi
It definitely doesn't slip on it takes some tapping to get it seated. I use a open end wrench and put it over it then tap the wrench down with a hammer. Using the wrench it gets it down evenly over the plastic piece. Open the wrench so it just fits around the drive shaft.
Let me know if this makes sense?

Haha, yes it looks like we both had the same idea.
