Hull Cleaner: Liquid or gel?

In our Maryland inland rivers off the Chesapeake and Potomac, the brackish river water 'mustache' is common, especially on white hulls. Liquid hull and bottom cleaner, such as MaryKate On & Off liquid, does wonders on surface stain, but is not so effective on the hull growth. What are your preferred hull cleaners, such as Mary-Kate? Best for growth removal? Any experiences with different viscosity - liquid or gel?

The On-Off works on the hull stain but not on the growth below the water line. For slime you either use anti-fouling paint or power wash frequently.
You or someone else can also scrub the hull in the water, fairly common for large vessels but done by divers.

With respect to liquids or gels, liquids will run and may stain the bottom especially if painted and you let the runoff dry. Are you cleaning on land or in the water?

The liquid if fine as long as you rinse after the recommended time to scrub. Plastic is a good idea since oxalic acid and galvanized steel don't like each other After your cleaning, rinse the trailer well.
