And what does it talk to? Garmin MFD? Generally iPads are poor choice for helm use instead of a multifunction display. Not waterproof, hard to see in bright sun. Maybe for a second display. But screen resolution won't be better than your MFD even though the iPad has significantly more pixels.
I have a dedicated iPad for ActiveCaptain. Works great for updates, loading charts, saving waypoint sets. I don't take it on the boat though. Who is going to look at it? Not me. I have a real MFD.
