ID this model DC?

Hi Folks,

Trying to identify this model/year(ish). I was told it's ~24' and 27 LOA with the platform. Listed as a "1989 Freedom," but I know that's not accurate (at least the year). Can anyone ID this?

I don't know a ton about dual console boats but from the pictures it looks like an early 80's 243 Tournament with a transom bracket on it and hardtop?

You're right! I didn't go back far enough in the archives to see that there were two years--83 and 84--where they made a Tournament 24.

I think it could easily be a 1989. They made a atournament model in 89 in 22 and 24’. Plus, the teak rod storage in gunnwale tells me it’s around ‘89 cause they changed that teak for different material about 1990

Per the brochure archives section on the Grady White website that is simply not correct. The only dual console boat that they made in 1989 is the 19' Tournament and it looks like they stopped producing the 24' Tournament in 1984 as well as the 22' Tournament in 1986

I'm assuming it's probably an online classified ad and he just copied and pasted the pictures from it?

That teak in the gunwale tells me for sure it might be in the 84 - 88 vintage.
Wonder why you can’t simply look on the transom for the last two digits indicating the year. As already pointed out

As stated above... I'm assuming, and I could be very wrong, that Jbessex is looking at the above attached pictures on an online for sale ad/posting and isn't actually viewing the boat in person. He could always email/call the seller and get the hull number that way or look at it in person as well but from what I'm gathering, he's probably viewing this on CL or BT or something similar.

Based on the early 80s brochures, the 24 foot tournament with outboard had a low cut transom fo. The inboard version had a full height transom so maybe this hull was repowered as outboard. The teak doors in the walkthrough look similar in location and number to the listing in the brochure.

There are 3 different versions of the 24' Tournament per the archived brochures on the Grady White website. The 243 has a notched transom with an outboard on it, the 244 has an enclosed transom with an inboard/outboard motor and the 245 has an enclosed transom with an outboard motor on the back. Attached is a link with what looks like the same boat that's been mislabeled... it seems like the boat wasn't very popular as there aren't a ton of pictures on Google of it. But I'd be willing to bet both boats are a 245 Tournament in the early 1980's vintage.

After further review, this could have been originally powered as a Grady Drive which was a 205hp OMC on a specialized power bracket. I speculate this because that bracket on the transom was not Grady White. They originally used a Springfield bracket. It’s all been refitted to accommodate that Yamaha
