You really can't go wrong with any of the top brands anymore....But, if $$ were no issue and you had a good dealer/instaler locally that was familiar with these brands I'd go Furuno or Northstar for the main screens (Plotter/Radar/Fishfinder).
Use a 1K flush thru-hull transducer (Airmar).
Add an open array radar antenna (At least 4K but 10K is better for finding birds far away).
For Radios: ICOM. Find a good dealer and get any of the DSC VHF's. Then, ask the dealer if he can get you an F121 or similar as a backup. These are commercial and pack more power (2X). You are supposed to have a commercial license to get one but most dealers will help you out if you are placing a big order. If your installer is a real stickler for rules you may need to install yourself. Get separate 8 foot antenna's for these radios. These radios also have a programmable frequency so if you and your buddies have them you can essentially have your own channel and no one else can hear you - VERY cool!!
ACR Epirb w/internal GPS - Type 1 (Auto deploy)
Handheld P-Epirb + Handheld VHF in a DITCH BAG - Along with all the other stuff.
Depending on your boat's electronic systems you might consider an extra battery charger as well as a line conditioner for the electronics - These made ALL the difference in the world in my set-up.
Of course, add a raft for safety as well. If you can fit them having dual main screens is a huge plut. First, and most importantly, if one goes out you have a back-up. Second, you can view more things at once.
Oh, for good measure add satellite weather, cockpit and engine room cams (Assuming you have an engine room) and if you REALLY want to spend some $$ - FLIR (Night vision hooked directly to your sceens)....FLIR is the cat's A$$ if you do any night running!
Have fun...bring your checkbook!
