I have a 2006 228G and want to install an Airmar M260 in-hull transducer to integrate the a Raymarine DSM300 sounder. Can anyone (who is knowledgeable) tell me the best location for this unit, based on accessibility, hull density/thickness/etc.?

My gut tells me it would be on the keel, but the hull may be too thick there, or have pockets of soft material in it.

Want to get a good signal. Bought this boat rigged with great electronics, except the transducer was a cheapy.

Good advice would be appreciated.

I have the M260 in my '08 33 express. I have it mounted in aft berth under storage compartment..

I'd call Grady they were the ones who suggested this spot..although at 20 knots I loose the bottom intermitttently.
