I would appreciate any pics from 185 owners showing where you installed trim tabs. I have a set of Lenco 9” x 12” tabs on order and looking for guidance on installation. Seems like there is quite a range that would meet the spacing recommendation from Lenco (3” to 4” inboard from hull chine). I am also installing a Garmin GT56 transducer for a new Echomap UHD2 93VS. Thanks in advance!

Trim tabs on a 18ft boat?

The GT56 should be not less than 8 inch between outside prop and inside of the trim tab, and that may become difficult.
You rather go nearer to trim tab and risk bad reading at speed than to near prop an risk ventilation/cavitation/high slip problems.

Here is what I’m working with. Shown in blue tape is a 12” trim tab set inboard 6.5” from chine, an additional 8” to transducer placement (also shown in blue tape), and 13” from transducer placement to drain plug.IMG_3705.jpeg

Then there should be enough space, but you will discover when boat is in the water.

What is the reason for trim tabs?
i don't see absolutely no reason for trim tabs on a 18ft boat, correct weight distribution should make boat trim work more than enough with engine trim.
Should engine trim is not enough and/or you need stern or bow lift a different prop should be able to do better.
