This father son trip in a GW 225 landed a 10 foot 1,000 pound blue fin!

Cool video. I'm surprised no sharks showed up while they tried to boat that fish.

Great to see a "little guy" have success. I'm surprised they were able to boat that beast on a 22
That is awesome but thats a lot to clean and eat and freeze and give away!
We can't eat enough or give away enough of the 50-90 pound bluefins/yellowfins we catch before we catch another one.
I ate my last freezer pack in January.
Tuna is great but you CAN get tired of it.

We've had the discussion as to whether we release an over 73" if we ever get lucky enough to hook one agian
We had one on but got cut of in another boat.

Could not agree more - I have caught several in the 200 pound range and I don't know enough people to get rid of it.
 
Just reached out to him and invited him to our forum. Hopefully he'll come onboard.
 
in my opinion they shouldn't let commercial guys sell giants either. Every dead fish over 73" is the loss of a million schoolies 2-3 years from now.
And I catch schoolies and eat them. And you might say "they're making a living" and I say "I don't give a ship..buffalo hunters made a living...whalers made a living... Charter guys made a living taking charters for schoolies before the commercial seiners and longliner guys ruined it..."

if they want to make a better living, take people out to catch schoolies. They will be thick if they leave the giants alone.

and those wicked tuna guys make more selling t-shirts than selling tuna

Can it! Jalapeno tuna caned in pint jars will last years and people love getting it as gifts. I canned a 170 lb. tuna 3 years ago, nothing left all gone.
