The Islander helm, at least the 96 leaves little room for instrumentation. When I first purchased the boat I removed the door above the Yamaha gauges fabricated a Starboard dash panel and installed a Raymarine A65 and a Furuno 1715 radar. I am replacing the Furuno radar with a new Simrad GO9 xse . I plan on keeping the old A65 with DSM 25 and thru hull transducer. The Ray system works like a charm and is full of waypoints. The combined width of both the GO9 and A65 will no longer fit in a side by side configuration. Has anyone reconfigured their Islander dash to handle multiple displays and instrumentation. Fishin for ideas. Gimble mounts are out of the question.

I have a 98 Islander and put a 9" display on one panel and a 7" on the other panel. I got the measurements and worked with new wire marine to design the cutouts of both panels to incorporate the displays and gauges, which turned out pretty good. I even sent the old panels in so new wire could get the exact measurements.

I removed the glass cover piece and just used the existing holes of the old wooden panel. I'm assuming the person who owned the boat before me used some type of starboard modification for the top piece. However, I used used the old screw hole locations for the top panel and well. Attached is a pic of the old set up with that piece of starboard.
