Kicker motor

Setting up a 9.9 kicker on my 208 and have a question...do I hook into my fuel/water separator ? It has a port that is plugged and I thought I could tap in there. Or do I need to have a valve to change from main motor to kicker ? Thanks in advance, Tom
 
On my 209, I just tied into the extra outlet on the Racor head like you mentioned.

I have read that there may be a problem with that.

I just Googled 'kicker motor fuel' and got some good hits.

Guess I'll read some more.
 
i don't see any problem of tying into the same fuel head for the kicker.
i've done it on a couple of my boats and had no issues.
ideally, having a separate fuel source gives you added security should you develop a fuel issue that fouls your motor(s), but IMO its just too much a PITA to have a separate tank than the main to feed a kicker. Use the Racor or similar with clear fuel bowls and regularly inspect your bowl(s).
use a higher quality thread tape (fuel, hydraulic or gas tape) than just teflon tape to ensure a good seal. The stuff is usually similar to the white teflon, but yellow in color and a bit more $.
 
I did google and alot has been said about this, even before on this forum :hmm
 
The kicker on my 208 is tied into the same fuel source. Not sure where I'd put a second fuel tank at this time. I'm just very careful to use EtOH-free fuel.
