Kind of a silly question about fenders, and lines… I need some for my new 216 fisherman…what size, how many, what color ?

I know it’s probably a personal choice but thought I’d ask anyway.

Going to pick up our brand new boat today and I’m guessing it does not come with fenders and lines.

Are you going to be slipping the boat, or trailering?

Reason i ask is that I find it helpful to have different color lines - this makes it easier for crew to get the correct line. When backing into my slip, I need the spring line to the aft cleat secured first. If this line is a different color, say green, it is much clearer to say grab the green line and... instead of get the spring line first. With a trailer, the lines are on the boat, so it is less important.

For a 21' boat, 1/2" lines are more than sufficient. I don't have a preference on fenders, both of mine are white. But last boat had black.

Your dealer usually provides the basic coast guard package along with fenders and lines. Give them a call.

Having different colored lines makes it much easier to instruct the crew or anyone helping from the dock. If your boat is to be kept in a slip consider getting a second set of lines to use for docking at other marinas etc. They also can be used to double lines up in a storm. Depending on the size of your cleats 3/8 inch line maybe a better choice.
