Hey guys. I just noticed the bracket on my 232 has a pinhole leak and another coming from in between the outer transom and bracket. Im gonna be removing the bracket completely tommorow. Suggestions would be great.

Lots of good videos on youtube, look up Florida Sportsman Project Dreamboat and look for the ones done by Wildfire Marine. Also what do you mean by pinhole, like the bracket has corroded?

If the picture is correct, that surface looks unpainted and really pitted. If that's true, there's going to be more spots like you found - the Al will be very thin. Based solely on the picture, it may be time for a new bracket. You don't want to fix a few spots only to have the whole thing crumble while you're out on the water and lose your engine and/or possibly tear a hole in the boat and have the boat sink, too. That's obviously the worst case scenario - but it's a realistic one, as well.

That's pretty serious. I would recommend having a fabricator that deals with marine take a look at it for repair. On our 2004 232 we had the bracket removed, stripped and awl gripped about 8 years ago. It's help up pretty well but some areas are bubbling again. Knock on wood we have not had any more water in there yet.

I cut out the ispection p[late on my 1997 and replaced it with a reguler screw in inspection plate or access port as some call it. It reqired a some ctting and enlarging of the hole. I used a high quality silicone sealant and stainless self tapping screws. Don;t foeget to check the gasket on the lower drain plug.
