Hello, I am looking to buy a Grady white 271 canyon. I would really like the model with the coffin box up front with twin 300’s.

There are a couple dozen on Boat Trader that are currently for sale, as well as elsewhere. Did you have a specific set of years, price range, budget or anything else in mind to narrow the search down a bit?

I’m pretty sure that model with the coffin box was only built for a couple of years. I’m pretty sure it was around 2011 to 2015.

I think you are correct. I think my friend's 271 is a 2011. That coffin box is big but we have had to cut the tail off of bluefin to fit in there. You get to 150+ and even that box is not big enough and it's a big fish box.

Keeping my fingers crossed to find one. Going to look at one in Delaware that just came on the market.

I wish you luck, like I said, you have good taste. That boat isn't perfect but it is a great sled. In our Pacific, it is much more comfortable in the slop than my 228. Not dissing the 228, 228 people don't get mad. The reality is you want as much length as you can get in our slop.

The cool thing about that 271 is you can trailer it. My friend takes it up from Santa Cruz to Fort Bragg, I've been the behind vehicle multiple times, his 5.something cummins pulls that boat through traffic just fine (he's an expert at trailering, was in the German military, hauled much bigger stuff, this boat is easy for him).

I think that the 271 is the perfect balance of big enough and small enough. I know people say that about the 228, no offense to my fellow 228 owners, the 271 is better.

And I am firmly convinced the 271 is one of the best hulls Grady ever made. That hull is special. I've been on the Marlin, other hulls, the 271 is special. Go get one!
