Hello,

my name is Brian and im looking to buy my first GW.

I found a 1991 Tournament 19 and i have a couple of questions for the experts

The boat is powered by a 1990 Johnson 120hp?

Was this motor availble on a 1991 GW tour.

Most of the 19' tournaments i see all have 150's

would this boat have a problem getting out of the hole

or getting up on plane?? Please let me know any thoughts you guys have

Thank you Brian

I have a 1994 tourney 19 and it's powered by a yamaha 200 saltwater series and the thing flies! I've really never heard of that small of a motor on a boat that size. Seems like it would be underpowered depending on where you are using it. I would try and look for something with at least a 150 on it. Just some thoughts. Good luck!!

I had a 89 19' tournament with a johnson 150. The boat had pleanty of power. i think that a 120 would be a litlte under powered. I have a friend with a 21 striper walk around and he has a 120 on his and that boat is slow, he has to run wide open all the time...

Good Luck,

Lenny

My '89 190 has a 200 Saltwater as well and I think that is the perfect size motor. I can easily ski/wakeboard or run 50-55 if needed. Will cruise around 28-30mph at about 3200rpm

I agree with the others, not enough HP for that boat. My 190 tournament has a mercruiser I/O with 205HP, I cant imagine how that boat would behave with 120HP. Just my .02

there's plenty of other things to look at besides hp. if everything else is cool and the engine runs great....or you could find one with a 175 and it runs like crap. a smaller engine that runs great is better than a bigger engine that throws a rod out of the block. but that's just me.
