Looking to upgrade to a bigger boat next year, something about 25 feet possibly a sailfish or somrthing similar. I would like some opinions about the type of power best suited for a boat this size. I.O. power , twins or single out board ? I have seen boats for sale with all these options and would like to hear your opinions. Thanks

Most sailfish have twin 200-225 (pre '90 can use 150's) outboards, a few 272's had a single diesel but they're uncommon. Personally the added manuverability of the twins outweigh the extra maintenance of a single I/O. If the boat is a '90 or newer and has less than twin 200's, walk away (can't speak for the I/O crowd). If it's older than a '98 and has 4 stroke power watch how it rides and sits.

...but always take a ride and get a survey.
