Hello, I have a Grady 2006 205 Tournament and need to finally replace my Lowrance LMS 332C GPS/SONAR Unit after 12 years. I am looking to avoid re-wiring or having to pay someone to do it. It is a very cumbersome job but think I might need a pro. Does anyone have any suggestions other than finding a like unit on ebay that is also 12 years old and or getting a replacement upgrade and what it would cost me in labor and hardware?
The unit is located in dash and as you know has limited space so the size has to stay small and actually the same. Hope this is not too confusijng to understand

Thanks
Dave

Buying a used version of what you have is probably a waste of money. Or, at the very least, a gamble. I would start by removing the unit and measure exactly what size/dimensions you have to work with. Don't just measure the hole - find out how much bigger you can go and still fit the unit. Take into account the cut-out and overall dimensions. For most, if not all, units on sale you can download the installation manual and print out the template. If you end up needing to make the hole bigger, that's no big deal, either. Easy peasy.

The good news, is that any new unit you buy is light years ahead of what you currently have. You may even find that you can get a unit with a bigger screen, yet still take up no more room. Certainly look at the Lowrance line, but I would give a hard look at what Garmin has.

Re-wiring is not all that hard for anyone that is a decent DIY'r. It's basic, day-in/day-out work for anyone in the business. If you hired someone to do it, and they installed the new unit along with a new transducer, expect 2 to 3 hours of labor. It's really quite straight forward.

Thanks for the response. I will certainly look at what options are. I also have to keep in mind I have the GPS ANTENNA mounted near the fuel access cover and would also need to have that replaced. Clearly I am sure the new units are close to the same size but don’t want to start new cuts all over and do not want to plop another grand down for a new system.

New units won't require an antenna. You can just leave that one there. The new units - at least most of them in the smaller sized units - will all use an internal antenna.

Hi Dave...I am also Dave G and live on the Eastern Shore of MD! Small world. Anyway I know this is an old post but did you by chance find a new unit to go in the place of the 332C. I had purchased a Simrad GO7xse to put on my other boat but I never did and am thinking about going ahead and swapping them out. Just wondering how hard was it and what unit did you go with?
