Many Marlin questions....help?

Hello Grady Whiters

I recently bought a 1996 Marlin and have a bunch of question. 1) Where can I buy a cabin dining table to replace my broken one? 2) I have an after market AC unit. When I turn it on I hear the compressor running but there is no air blowing out the vents. Is there a blower fan in these units? I know the water pump is shot and I'm replacing that. 3) The stove element won't heat. Can I buy a new one? 4) The pump handle on the head just goes up and down and does not pump water (yes the seacock is open). What should I do to fix that?

The boat was in great shape besides these items and runs well on the old Yamaha 250's. I'm getting 1.3 MPG at 27 MPH. Top speed is 38. One hell of a boat for what I paid. Thanks in advance....

Congratulations on your new boat. I too just picked up a new to me Marlin. Mine is a 2000 and it seems we are both in the same boat (pun intended). I've spent the last 3 days fixing everything that wasn't working. My boat is in great shape, but hasn't been used much in the last few years. I started off my saga trying to figure out why my shore power wasn't working. Ultimately, I found the 30 amp breaker under the starboard gunnel near the shore power plug. Unfortunately for me, the breaker was dead and would not stay on. After that, I went through everything. I eventually got my air conditioner working, but I had to remove the fridge to diagnose the problem. Mine was air locked....one I got it primed it cooled down nicely. The only thing I don't have running yet is the generator. It has only 1.5 hours, but that's not a good thing since it's 11 years old. I'm hoping the gas pickup is too high in the tank for the generator to run.......I only have about a 1/4-1/3 of a tank of fuel. If it's anything else it might be expensive. On the brighter side, it did start with starter fluid.

To make a long story short, I had to buy a bunch of parts for my Grady this week. I used the guys at Southeastern Marine in Richmond, VA. to order many of my parts. They are a Grady dealer and I found them to be very helpful. If you call Grady White directly, they could most likely tell you where you can get your table. If mine broke, I'd be tempted to have one made out of teak (like the new ones). As far as the toilet goes, I'm guessing it's a Jabsco.....they sell rebuild kits for all of their toilets. If you have the model number you should be able to rebuild it. Marinepartssource.com has a huge selection of marine parts. I found the breaker I need through them.....this was after I called the Grady dealer. They guy at the store had to do a bit of research, but he returned my call in about 10 minutes and found exactly what I needed. I also bought new sea strainer sight glasses through the Marine Parts Source. I'm not sure what to tell you about the stove. Have you confirmed that it is getting power? If it is, I would guess the element is the most likely source of your troubles. Electric stoves are very simple appliances.
 
Thanks for sharing! I called up Mermaid Air and the tech gave me some tips to "hot start" the unit. Whata you know, it worked! The fan just needed a $15 capacitor and now all is cool. Everything else ( microwave, fridge etc. ) works well. Except the macerator and head pump and stove. That and a couple of bulbs. I had to replace a trim piston for $400 but the 720 hour engines seem to be strong for old 2 strokes. Which engines do you have and how many hours? My Marlin sat neglected also, but the more I use stuff the better they work.....You won't believe what I paid for her considering she came with radar, autopilot ( the pump is shot) and a nice dual nav/sounder unit mounted through the two threw haul transducers. I did add a Garmin 541s.
