I dont get any water coming into my head bowl when turning the dial. The pump makes plenty of noise running. I have checked that there is plenty of freshwater and the lever is opened in the access area. My freshwater washdown doesnt work either but the pump makes noise like it is running ok.
thanks very much
Vince

The older GW models do not use fresh water not sure about the newer models - I am guessing your thru hull head inlet valve is in the off position . once that is open the pump should self prime. The wash down and live wells also have thru hulls with on and off valves. Good luck.

If you're positive that whatever style head you have uses fresh water - you'd have to tell us specifically what you have since there are different kinds - and since you're not getting water out of a fresh water washdown - and assuming you're not mistaking it with a raw water washdown - check the filter at the pump.

The head on my 2023 Freedom 235 uses seawater to flush once I have opened the ball valve beneath the front deck (next to the macerator ball valve which I do not use). During winterization a mechanic did find that a wire connection had failed and replaced with a new connector. I do not know exactly where the connector is located, but the system works fine. 'Hope this helps,

This. It pulls in sea water. The ball valve is under the little round deck plate between the consoles. It's a terrible design because you have to use a screwdriver or something to pry it up. Then when you get in there, nothing is marked (there's a couple of valves in there). And Grady doesn't provide any instructions. They really need to post videos on how to use these things.

Thank you all for the help! I did find that the fresh water filter was broken and it is obviously the weak point in the system. Seeing that pump and filter was not obvious by any means and is hidden from view. the filter with the quick releases on either side are great designs since you have to replace it with only one arm through the small portal and unable to see anything. I did get it on and off in 15 minutes of trying. You saved me a lot of time and expense so THANK YOU ALL as a first time viewer of this site! I think I winterized a little too late so blame myself for this problem!

The head still doesnt fill with water. Although the previous owner told me that it uses fresh water, I dont think that is true as it has an inlet seacock to open and says so in the instructions. So it is not going to work while on my lift or trailer.
Thanks again
