Anyone have any idea what GPH one would realistily expect with boat loaded at cruise speed. Boat has twin F250's. The Grady site says approx. 19.5 gph = 31mph. I don't think that would be the real world stats.

I have 225s and at 31 mph I burn ~21-24 gph, loaded, with canvas, generator, a couple years of bottom paint, onboard tackle shop etc., depending upon conditions.

My modifed 1983 24T with twin 200hp Johnson..(Port side 1990 non- finger ported..Starboard side a 1995 finger ported model)..normal cruise burns 26gph total at 3,500 rpm ..25-26 miles per hour(GPS)..8000lbs gross weight leaving the dock..2 foot seas...max cruise for me is 30gph total at 4000rpm at 28-30mph (GPS)..

I pay more attention to MPG. My 2004 with 225's, fully loaded for gulf stream fishing, 5 people, averages 1.2 to 1.4 statute mpg depending on sea conditions. It's 65-75 miles out at 26-30 mph cruise, troll all day at 8.5-9.0 mph, and cruise back. Usually totals 185-200 miles, 135-140 gallons.

My numbers closely match Miss Sadie. I have the same boat but cruise a tad faster (27-28 kts), probably because I will run up to 4700 RPM if conditions permit. That gives me 1-2 kts more with the same fuel burn.

BTW: My optimal trim at cruise is 4 bars. Above that the prop will ventilate.

Thanks for all the feedback. I asked the question because I am considering purchasing a Marlin and wanted to account for what I might be in for. Currently have a 1992 24' explorer which I purchased new 17 years ago.

Shortround,
By the way I also came from a 1992 Explorer with a single 2000 Yamaha 250 EFI. Believe it or not I only use approximately 25% more fuel on average with the Marlin. This is especially true when I troll for hours for tuna. I have seen as bad as 1.0 nmpg fast trolling (nine or ten knots) with the Explorer and as good as around 2.2 nmpg with the the Marlin at the same speed.
