Good day everyone!

I have recently purchased a 1976 Gulfstream without an engine and attempting to find one that will drop in without any modifications to the structure of the boat.

I was informed that the boat had a 4.1 /250 / 165HP Inline 6 installed but when searching for a replacement, I am required to provide the block number etc. prior to purchase of a new or reconditioned long block which I do not have available.

When looking in Craig's list, I just do not know what will fit and it seems that the engine that will fit only spans the years 1970 1980 but I can't even be sure of that bit of information. :bang

So my new found friends, can anyone one of you kindly assist me with being able to secure the correct motor of my Gulfstream?

Thanks in advance to all for input to this my 1st question on the forum and much more as I get into the restoration of my first Grady White!

Best regards,

Do you need just the motor or the whole sterndrive front to back? Could be a tough nut to find one of those - not really sure. I had a late 60's boat with that motor IIRC. You might be ahead of the game to just purchase a complete V-6 package. Who knows what the condition is of your present intermediate housing and drive, is it original?. Maybe more expensive but perhaps an easier and less painless way to go. All new and hopefully trouble free. If you have a number off the drive or intermediate housing you might be able to get some info from Mercruiser.
