Multiple Engine Flush Process

Hello, anyone devise or acquire a contraption to flush the engines using the flush port simultaneously? I have three engines and rather not stand around for 45 minutes. Thank you

A standard hose splitter (or two) from HD or Lowe's should do the trick along with some hose repair kits and cutting some old hose to make a rig. That's a very simple/easy solution - does that not work for your setup for some reason?

One downside... especially if your flow rate isn't too great... water will follow the path of least resistance. So it's "possible" that one or even two engines won't get flushed (or not very well). You'll know by monitoring the output water for the first few times.

Dennis is right. If you have 3 engines, I bet they are big. And bigger engines require FULL water pressure.

I do my F300's one at a time (5-10 minutes).
I'm also a believer that doing the flush when the engine is HOT makes a difference.
Accordingly, I'll leave an engine running while the one next to it is off and flushing. After that one is flushed, the HOT engine is turned off and immediately flushed. This is a tip a fellow Grady Owner shared with me.

Flushing while hot keeps your T-stats super clean. Hope this helps...

Yes, I think flushmaster could be a good option. Bit expensive though. Would a hose irrigation valve do the same thing?

3-way hose splitter, washing machine hoses, quick connects. Individual valves on the splitter regulate pressure to each engine.

I use a hose splitter on twins and it works fine.

For me too and i leave it attached all the time.
Some garden quick connects to build a T permanently attached to flush port., looks ugly but does the trick.
My BF350 have a check valve in flush port, even if disconnected no water exits, not sure about other outboards.

Be careful when flushing hot engines, depending on water temp the engine could suffer thermic shock as the engine get hotter after stopped and no water flow.
Option would be:

1. dock and leave engines down and running
2. attach water hose and open water flow
3. stop engine to have only fresh water running thru engine

That is what y Honda dealer told me after installing the new outboards.

I think about 30 seconds - but they are a very important 30 seconds.

When I changed thermostats, I took the old one and placed it in a coffee cup of boiling water in my kitchen sink. Then I slowly added cold water to the cup. The thermostat closed up in about 30 seconds as I recall.

You can do this yourself to check...

Even with the thermostats closed the parts after get flushed.
There is a bypass what allows water to flow behind the thermostats.

This would be a simple solution. It is battery powered, so no cords. I use them for my wife's varied planters. They are easily programmed. You can set each outlet to go off at different times, so you get full flow to each flush.

Interesting but it all comes down to flow. On my dock if I try to do both motors at same time water will only come out of one engines pee hole

Years ago I made a "y" hose with valves and quick connects to flush my twin engines. My marina has amazing water pressure giving me good water flow to both engines. However i have gotten away from using it as its a PITA to store on the boat. Grady's do not have a lot of storage space . My flush procedure is now hook up one engine crack a beer, once the beers finished move the hose over and repeat. After most trips we are cleaning up and organizing stuff anyway so the engines get flushed in the background so to speak.

Buy a hose splitter off of amazon - make sure it’s plastic otherwise you’ll regret it the first time a helper drops it on your gelcoat. Cut lengths of an old house and add plastic connections to the outward flow side of the splitter to connect to the flush ports. I have triple 250s and this works great with the quick connects. Other poster is right about hose pressure to simultaneously flush all engines. Fortunately my marina water p[ressure is high.

I also use a hose splitter at the dock as my marina water pressure is pretty good. If there's a lot of other active usage on the dock, or I've pulled the boat and am at home, I'll shut one side off and do them one at a time so I get good flow thru each. The pee stream is a good indicator for me, if it's flowing freely I'll leave both sides open, if it's not I'll close one valve and then crack a second 'clean up' beer while I wait.
