Congrats on your first post and pictures are always welcome!

Nice looking boat. I had a 1995 208 for ten years and loved it. Yours looks to be a bit more decked out than mine was. I hope you enjoys yours as much as we did ours.

I've only had it out a few times since I bought it. So far the ride is great. No pounding in 2 ft waves. Just a nice spray. With two people onboard and 75 gallons of fuel I've had it up to 48 mph @6000 rpm. It will probably hit 50mph with one person, less fuel and a calm day. F225 is super quiet when ideling. I have to turn around to make sure I see water peeing from it. The noise is not to bad when cruising either.

That's a heck of a lot faster that what we can do. We max out on flat water at about 37 mpg. What's your fuel burn at cruise?
 
Haven't figured out the fuel burn yet. According to Grady White it's supposed to burn about 4.2 gal per hour running at 29.1 mph. But they don't specify on their website (under performance for the 208) the weight, fuel on board, number of people, hardtop etc. Will find out this spring what she burns. All I know for sure is when you nail the throttle on this F225/208 combo pack you better be aiming where you want to go because your going to be there before you have time to think about it.

Thanks: Can't wait to get out there. Have just got the old Cetrek Autopilot working and yesterday fixed a bilge pump float switch that wasn't working. David
 
I bought a '95 208 this past summer. I love it and can't wait for spring. I bought it with a brand new F150 hung on it, not even fully installed. Economy is great, just wish I could put a hardtop on it.
 
Thanks for the feedback Sandy Bottom. I just purchased this in August. The engine had 84 Hours on it. Hope you like yours as much as I like mine. Why can't you put a hardtop on it?
 
I've heard that with a hard top and an F150, it would be a bit underpowered. Performance is fine as is, but I could see where the added weight could be an issue. Right now I'm trying to decide if I want to add trim tabs. Any thoughts?

In my opinion, trim tabs were the greatest addition to the boat we've made. I'd highly recommend them if your time on the water includes water with any kind of chop on it.

Yamaha's website provides more info on what appears to be the same test day as Grady's. Unfortunately, Yamaha takes down older tests, and I could only find a 209 (not a 208) with an F225 test. If the links works, look here:

NIce Boat. I just bought a 1995 Adventure but it still has the '95 yamaha 225 Slatwater Series with a yamaha 9.9 4 stroke for a kicker.

I checked you math and can't believe it's right. You said 4.2 gal/hour and 29MPH. that works out to about 7 miles per gallon. I have a 150 Yamaha 4 stroke on a deck boat and think I get about 4 miles per gallon at 3000 rpm. Either way I would like to have your power.

I meant that it gets 4.2 miles per gallon not 4.2 gallons per hour according to the Grady White website.
