Need Prop advise on a G/W 228G with Yamaha 225 Fourstroke

I'M a new owner of a 2005- G/W 228G with a Yamaha 225 Fourstroke and need some advise on what type of stainless Prop to Buy for Boat. I have went to the local propeller shop and tried 3- different props and still have not found the right Prop. Trying to find a Prop that gives good mid range RPM at Plane or Lift at Cruising Speed.
1st - Prop we tried was a S/S 4- blade 17 pitch that gave good mid range lift but at top end only 5200 RPM at 33 MPH.
2nd -S/S Prop was 3- blade 17 Pitch that did not want to get the boat on plane until after 4100 RPM at 20 MPH 4300 RPM at 25MPH and top end was good at 5900 RPM at 43 MPH.
3Rd - S/S Prop was 3- blade 15 pitch that put boat on plane at 4300 RPM at 18 MPH and Top End was 6100 RPM at 37 Mph with this being over the RPM range at full speed.
This is my first boat with a Fourstroke Motor, is this a Normal RPM Range to get the boat up on Plane?
The Boat weight is 3510 Dry, no Engine with 92 gallons of fuel with a hard top and 3 men in Boat.
It seams to me like the Boat should get up on plane at a lower RPM or May be this is the RPM that is needed to plane the 228 Grady Boat ? Thanks for any advise on the 228 G/W.

We have the yamaha stainless 3 blade 17 pitch. It seems overall to be about right. Lightly loaded, 2 people, light fuel load will go to 6100 WOT. Nornal loads, med to full fuel - 6000WOT. Heavy loads, 4 guys, full fuel (150 gals main+aux), 100+lbs ice, tackle, etc etc - 5800 to 5900WOT.

Below about 3800 to 3900rpm it wants to fall off plane. We normally cruise economically around 4000 to 4500 or so - thats around 22 to 27 mph depending on load. You have to get it about 4000 to get it up on plane then keep it above NO lower than around 3900 to stay on plane.

Hope this helps. BTW with ours top speed has never exceeded more than 42 - thats running downwind and downhill. The 228/F225 combo is basically a 40ish-max mph boat. Put a 250 on it and you'll get about 3 to 4 more on the top end, maybe.

Overall, no complaints - we'd buy it all over again.

My 226/200 HPDI combo came with the Yamaha SWS 17 prop....I swapped it for a 17" Mirage Plus prop. It was like adding an overdrive gear. It provides enough bow lift that when you trim it out, you can get the bow heavy cuddy portion of the boat out of the water. That is good for 2-3 mph. I'm running one on my 180 now and am seeing similar results.

Check on eBay....you can find them frequently for $200 or so.
