have a 2001 265, last year i changed the deck plates from the pry out type to the threaded type (i went with rabud, matches grady color almost perfect) i did this under recommendation from boat surveyor, problem is - i notice a small amount of water on top of gas tanks after the washing of the boat, which i had less of with the old plates,--did i not use enough silicone,or did i use the wrong silicone? or is it possible that the new plate does not fit in the old whole "just right" thus leaking thru the actual cap(center) rather than the outer ring that gets sealed to the deck ? detailed advice would be appreciated: methods, silicone type, etc.
