Just purchased my first GW. It's a 79 Marlin 201. Now here comes the bad part. It's got a Mercruiser 470/170 in it. All I've heard about this engine is bad things i.e cam seal leaks, bad manifolds etc. The boat itself is in amazing condition. The previous owner said it leaks some coolant into the oil. I'm assuming that's the cam seals leaking. I have done quite a bit of reading online here about the 470 and now I'm a little down in the dumps about this boat. I have waited all my life for a GW and I think that's what drove me to buy this so aggressively, but now I'm having second thoughts. If there is anybody out there who can offer me some encouragement or help me see the light at the end of the tunnel I would greatly appreciate it.
