Hey all,
excited to (hopefully!) get in the water this spring with my "04 222 with Yamaha 225. does anyone know the draw on this boat? I am in a pretty shallow harbor in Chatham, MA.

Thanks!
BM

Welcome aboard!

Offhand, no, I don't know exactly. Probably floats in something like 16" or 18", give or take. Then it just depends on how far you have the motor in - making sure to keep the water intake underwater. If you look in the owner's manual, or download it from Grady's site, it will tell you exactly.

I bought a 2007 with Yamaha 250 back in October. Love it. I have a few threads on the boat and things I’ve done. Feel free to hit me up if you have any questions.

Pictures! Ain't nothin without pictures ;)

(p.s. and welcome too.. heh)

I’m looking at a 2000 w/2000 225. What did you pay for the 04??

300 hours, 25k but I have to do the exhaust stack. (Pre COVID). I’m sure it would have been cheaper if I had waited a month... but as my grandfather always said “a good soldier never looks back”

Looks like a great boat. The one I am looking at is 25k, going to get a survey done on it. comes with a trailer and a canvas T-top. Im thinking it would be worth anywhere from 18-22k. I think that 25k for a 2000 is a little high.

The boat I am looking at is in Hingham, MA. Love boating down on the cape though!

i will admit publicly - to making a major mistake - i only had the stack checked ... i did not have the appraisal and i did not sea trial. It was January or February, I was looking for this exact boat all winter. I took delivery and had it shipped. while it is a nice clean boat, it had been sitting for a season or tow os it had fuel system issues, deck drain hoses needed to be replaced, the GPS is shot... all of this would have come up in sea trial for sure - and probably appraisal. An expensive lesson for me - one i have learned many times in life when i get impatient.

Looks good....I will own a 209 and/or a 222 at some point.

As long as the powerhead is OK, the exhaust repair can be done for $1700-$1800 or so. And then you will have the piece of mind of knowing it's good to go.

As for electronics, what was current last year is obsolete this year. Or - you may be a Garmin fan and it's got Furuno....

Congratulations....

Do you have stern jump seats on your 222? I’m getting a survey done on one hopefully this week and want to know what it might look like...the one I’m looking at doesn’t have any. Thanks!

It does. They are removable. Speakers are under them so I am contemplating removing for a while to see if I miss them. I’m missing the backrest on one of them. Let me know if you find a source to replace that!
make sure they check engine fuel pump (assuming Yamaha). Also, I had to replace deck drain hoses ( they were badly cracked).

And , of course, the exhaust stack (again - Yamaha)

The seller said that the exhaust was redone on the 04 225 4stroke.
I have JL Audio speakers on the stern...wondering if the seats will fit there...would you mind PM’ing me with some pics on how yours look?

Attached. First ride today. Sounded great. I will probably add amp / sub in the winter.

Looks great. I wonder where I can got that frame/seat combo...I’m sure a dealer would know.
I was out sea trialing in Scituate today - 3ft chop, it was fun!

Loving mine - surprised at how comfortable the bow is. Took a Sea Pro for a ride last summer which intimidated me with the high bow but loving the 222!

I was talking to a mechanic at the GW dealership I service my current boat at...they mentioned with the 2004ish motors hp200-250 you not only need to watch the exhaust but should also have the lower power head checked as that has deteriorated due to exhaust issues. It can cause the gaskets to not seal...roughly around 3k to fix :(

I would definitely have them look at it when you have the appraisal/ inspection.

Updating this 4 years later - corrosion hole in my engine block near the thermostat. Time for a rebuild or a Repower. . 500 hours - what would you do?
