I just purchased a 1984 19' Tournament this morning. The boat is powered by a 2003 135 Mercury Optimax. I have never owned a GW before or a Mercury. We just sold our Boston Whaler 150 Sport and wanted something bigger. My wife wanted a cruising boat for going to local harbors and restaurants with more comfort than our small Whaler and I wanted something that I can take my buddy's out in and fish.

I have never even been out in one so anybody that is familiar with them could give me some pointers or let me know your overall opinion that would be great. This is also the first time I will own a boat that doesn't have a Johnson on it. Any information on the motor would be nice too. I did do a lot of research but the problem is to many people are Ford and Chevy and have an allegiance to one or the other.

First - welcome aboard :)

Second - we are all addicted to boat porn....so you must post pics of the new boat before you are a full card - carrying member of GG. (Just kidding.)

The 190 / 192 are great boats....I owned an '86 190 and we had a great time with it.

Welcome....

Welcome and Congrats on the boat. I had a 192 and my brother had a 190 and they were grear 19 footers! You are right on the motor thing. I had Johnson and repowered my 192 with a 4 stroke Yammaha. Now I am a Yammy man. Enjoy your new boat!
