Hang in there with the Tundra. I have 3 of them now in our business. They start out with terrible fuel mileage and get better. The 08 SR5 I recently went to IN from ME with a load of steel parts. The key is to try to keep the rpms at or under 2000. I got 21 mpg on one tank when I got to the flatland of IN, and that was with 1000 lbs in the back. Most of the time messing around town they will get 15 or so. With the standard gearing, 68 mph is just under 2000rpm. They ride really stiff for the first 2500 miles as well. They are a hell of a pickup, we have had great luck. I tow a Adventure 208 with mine, and it doesnt even know its hooked on. I have never gotten better than 12 towing with it. When we have heavy grunting to do, we take the Duramax, but the 380 hp of the 5.7 is nothing to sneeze at. We havent got ready to trade one yet, well see if the legendary Toyota resale is there at that time. Toyota had incredible deals last fall with huge rebates, but those have gone away at this time.
