If you have not seen it, check NYS DEC website for 2008 fish regs,
NO POSESSION OF FLUKE as of 1/31/08 --- when the season closed last September -- IT CLOSED
at least we can still get stripers

Last I heard NJ still has a short season. The tricky part is if you're from NJ, get the fish in NJ waters, but cross the state line on your way home and get caught, your fined.

Some talk that the seals taking up residence in the bays past few winters have increased in size and are feeding on the fluke.

May add to it.

Yes - I heard the same with May 15 as opening date --
But we will have to wait and see what the DEC comes up with --

I have heard the same from Shinnicock to Mt. Sinai, 4 fish at 20.5 inches , information to be released by DEC by May 10th for a 15th opener.

The latest on NYS FlukeThe NY DEC has finally announced just minutes ago at 10 a.m. Tuesday (5/6) morning they are making the 2008 Fluke and Porgy regulations official

Fluke: The new 2008 reg's will be:
Four fish per person
Season runs May 15 and September 1
Size limit is a 20-1/2 inch es

Porgy: For recreational anglers from your boat or shore
May 26 to September 26
10-1/2 inches
10 fish per person

Porgy: Aboard Party & Charter Boat there will again be two (2) seasons and bag limits
Season 1

June 15 to Sept. 1
11 inch size limit
10 fish per person

Season 2

Sept. 2 to October 15
11 inches
45 fish per person

At least it will keep some room in the box for the bass.
