used the boat yesterday and went to wash the boat the next morning and oil spots under the props and oil streaks inside one prop, not sure what could have caused this. Will be pulling props and looking at seals, and checking the oil for water. I did a lot of trolling that day.

JB,

What kind of oil was it and what engine do you have? It could be excess oil from slow trolling coating the exhaust system which ran down after the engine was sitting in the down position..kind of like after you winterize a 2-stroke engine...was the oil black?

Did you catch anything? I was trolling off LBI on saturday and caught a bass and bluefish...

If it was lower unit oil, it would not be black. If it were leaking out, water would be leaking in and the oil would be, in most cases, milky looking. In my opinion, the black stuff you are seeing is oil residue draining out of the exhaust passageways along with unburned fuel from your engine running rich diue to the cold of this time of the year. My 2-strokes have always done that in the fall and my fathers 2001 150hp OX66 does it as well.
