On the starboard engine of my 94 Sailfish, the 2-cycle oil reservoir hit the low level. The alarm sounded as it should. However, I couldn't pump oil into it using the emergency switch on the rear of the engine. I'm going to assume it's the pump in the main oil tank unless anyone has a better guess or solution.
If it is the pump, how can I get the oil tank out to repair it? Taking the livewell out seems to be a good idea because that will put me right on top of the oil tanks but I can't figure out how to get the livewell's bottom drain unhooked.
Some locals have suggested pre-mixing my fuel and bypassing the tanks altogether. I don't want to do that.

Unless some else responds, contact you local Grady dealer, they ought to know who to get it out and be willing to instruct you, a visit to the dealer may be best vs. phone call.

You will have to determine if the pump is running or not, if running there is a filter down there that may be plugged. If it doesn't run verify voltage to it. if voltage is presnet and no run, then it's the pump. If no voltage, then it's somewhere else.

While you are at it, flip over and drain the tank of oil and clean the bottom of sludge and water if any is present.

The emergency switch was intended for a purpose other than you used it for, be sure to get the problem corrected as soon as practical.

Not sure how your boat is configured vs. mine. I have a 2000 272 Sailfish and had a oil pump fail last year (same alarm etc). Had it replaced but didn't replace the other one at the time. A few weeks ago, we went ahead and repaced the 2nd pump just to be on the safe side (since we go usually go out 30-50 miles). It was a very easy process and took us about 30 minutes. Once you take the lifewell out, you're halfway there. Good luck.
