Anyone know of software or a reader that can be hooked up to the Yamaha outboards for diagnostics?

I found a couple online, just wanted to see what/if someone here used anything they recommend for a 2003 and 2004 motor. I tend to like to troubleshoot the stuff myself....saves me the stress of wondering if I found a trustworthy mechanic.. heh

Oh.. also.. good outboard manual. I found one on amazon, but .. again... you guys are experienced with Yamaha... I am a Merc guy.. if you know of a good one, let me know, please.

Thanks!

What model motor, some like the older SX (non HPDI) series can use a 'Blinky" light that blinks codes for various conditions. There are packages with cables and software in all ranges of price into the thousands. The less expensive ones have software that you load on a laptop. Are they any good? I don't know but would like to.

2 different models:

2003 Yamaha F225TXRB
2004 Yamaha F225TXRC

Pretty much the same, just different years.

I just found a copy of Seloc outboard 1995 to 2004 for 15 bucks... grabbed it heh

I had twin hpdi's on my last boat and I got the Yamaha diagnostic program and cable and the factory service manual. Had an old laptop with the program loaded on it.

I do my own maintenance and highly recommend getting the factory stuff.

I generally stick to factory stuff too, but does not hurt to have manuals from other sources if they show different angles, ideas, aids.

Still looking for a factory manual for the engine as well as the diagnostic tools. I found one that has a cable and cd, just need to make sure it fits.

I have a file with the 2004TXRC Yami manual. The TXRB is going to be pretty much identical. If you want it, PM me or post your email address and I will try to send it. It is a large file.
