Been considering installing a generator on my 2007 Marlin. After looking at all the different ones, I keep leaning towards the Fischer Panda. A number of build are now installing them. I do like the full freshwater cooling off the field coils so you don't have to run a blower at the same time.

Can anybody suggest a good dealer who sells them outright at a good price. Best I got was 8 thousand for the 4200 plus. I know they list for 10K. I figured a grand or two for all the extra install items.
Grady has a complete parts package with everything. My local dealer gave me a price of 17,500 dollars.
This is before shipping and tax and installation is not included. That is just a bit too much.

Thanks

Does anybody have any commits on their F/P gen set and just how quite are they?
I have seen the past post here on some of the problems with them.

I have a factory installed, original equiptment F/P genset on my 33 Express. It is reliable and relatively maintainance free. The only issue I had with mine was a faulty starter relay, which I replaced for about 10 bucks after figuring out what it was. That being said, it isn't as quiet as I would like, and I do not run it when sleeping at night unless I need to, as it is noticable, especially when trying to watch a movie. It isn't unbearable, but not something you would want on regularly. The portable Honda EU2000 is whisper quiet and a great alternative to going throuogh the trouble and expense of having one built in. If mine were to go south, I would probably look to go that route. For 1,000 dollars, you are done, it is quiet and simple. The onboard one has the benefit of running while underway if you need to run cooling plates and will be doing fishing overnighters with a large electricity draw. I use mine sporadically to heat something on the electric stove or in the microwave, or the AC, never regularly. I run mine more to keep it running, than because I need it...

Thanks for the input.

Never having been on a small boat that had a generator, It is kind of hard to make a decision
on what to get without seeing one running. I do carry on a Honda at times but love to have the convenience
of having one to use at anytime.

Thanks again.

I agree. I had always wanted a built in generator, and made it one of the "need to haves" when I upgraded. That being said, now that I have it, I am somewaht underwhelmed. It isn't as quiet as I would have thought, or liked. Because of this, and the lack of need, I do not use it as often as I thought I would have. As I mentioned, if I didn't have one, I would probably go with the Honda. In my mind, it would be hard to justify the expense of nearly 10k for the amount I would use it. I so understand the desire though.

BTW, I don't know where you are located, but I and Gman are in Bayshore, Long Island. He has the gas generator, I have the F/P diesel. If you are anywhere near here in a month, we will both be in the water and willing to give you a demo. If you live elsewhere, I would bet there is another GG member willing to do the same...

Thank you very much for the offer.
I am in South Amboy NJ. Just a bid to far for me.
I seen one guy in the Highlands. I'll have to take a ride by one day when he's there.
