I finally finished working out the "kinks" in my Grady White Spirit 175. It is a 1995 that I picked up last year with less than 100 hours on the boat/motor. It was in pretty rough shape but after some TLC I think I'm ready for some bay fishing this summer.

My sons waxed and cleaned it today for my birthday. About 5 hours work. Nice gift!

The Chesapeake Bay. We like to camp at Solomons Island (Navy Rec Camp) and fish in that area. I could do the river in my bass boat with no problems but we wanted to get further out. We also plan to spend a week at Kiptopeke State Park in July. Any advice on either area is welcome.

Cool. You probably already know this but you have a very active GW Club in your area that you might want to consider joining.
As for Kiptopeake, I've never stayed there but they tell me it's nice :lol: I do know the ramp/ launching facility is nice, protected by the concrete ships breakwater, and only minutes from some of the best fishing the bay has to offer. Depending on the conditions, July offers a wide range of species to target.

As Average Joe stated we have an active Grady White Club on the Chesapeake Bay. We have over 75 boats in the club and more than 150 members. Actuallly we have quite a few members in the Solomons area. At least one has their boat docked at the Rec Center there in Solomons. Others are at Calvert Marine, etc. If you would like additional information and a Calendar of Events just let me know. I'll be happy to forward all the info to you.

I'm very interested. I've done some saltwater fishing in Alaska and Washington state but always with someone. I'm learning about the bay and Grady Whites. This is my starter boat (I have a bass boat and have fished fresh water most of my life) and I've already put the seed in my wife's brain that we might need a bigger boat next year. I'm looking for a pleasurable experience so she is inclined to spend more time on the water.
