aloha, I just wanted to contribute some pics and comments about my 2005 GW Marlin 300. It had almost 1000 hours on both Yamaha 250's original with the boat. The boat was kept out of the water on a good trailer. Previous owner had it in SoCal, Brought it to Kailua Kona about 8 years ago and hardly got it wet. Was with a concierge service that did regular maintenance monthly and annually. Was kept covered. I bought it and it has been a dream boat for me. I noticed as most do that the transom bang cap made of aluminum was corroding and the totally amateur molding and sealing around the top cap was almost stupid. Amazing all the great things they did and totally messed this up. I can't imagine the justification but oh well. I have access to amazing glass workers and skilled boat builders so I took it to get fixed. Can't tell you what it cost me as I got an amazing deal on it but I figured I would share the pictures of the engineering flop from the factory. I should show you the finished product but forgot to take the pics. will do soon. Here are the pics of the thing as they took it apart. It is not bad as it sat out of the water most of its life but I wanted to get it sealed and it looks like I caught it early and not too much damage. What I thought was bad was the top cap had a seal that you could not see across the transom with a big gap in it.
