The port side battery on my 2023 Freedom 215 does not appear to be connected properly. It is charged and reading full on portable battery meter but providing absolutely no power to the ignition or anything else. Terminals are clean and cables are well connected. I disconnected only the negative terminals over the winter, charged the battery and reconnected the negative cables. It seems that there could be blown fuse or a cable disconnected somewhere. Possibly a problem with the battery selector switch. No obvious rodent damage, water intrusion or any other obvious problems. Appreciate any thoughts. Thank you.

Two things to start with. First, find the owner's manual and look at the wiring diagram, being only a couple years old it is probably still reasonably accurate. Second, buy a decent multimeter and then start tracing the circuits.

There is often a fuse near the battery, as well as circuit breakers near the battery switches.

More than likely, you simply missed one of the connections when working on it this spring. Speaking for me - I am usually the cause of gremlins like this, and typically the solution is found by going over the work I did. Rarely is there a coincidence where I did work, then system does not function, and the cause is a different component.

Can you provide more information - you describe the Port battery, which implies there is a starboard one as well? There are a lot of folks here who are happy to help, but who don't have the same model you have - help them help you by providing a better layout of the battery systems.

There would be a short thick black cable connecting the two negative terminals together. You may have missed putting it back.

So it's your starter battery, not the house battery?

As already written by others, most likely a not connected -12V cable
Make sure your multimeter is working correctly and you have a good -12V for the multi meter to make it work
Check first visually all -12V connections
Start from the battery, then measure on the back of the Battery Switch if 12V is there the go ahead till you find 0V.
If this does not help then measure cables continuity with the beep function of the multimeter between the battery and the different -12V cable legs

There is usually a fuse near the battery, if you had a surge, it would blow.
Have you checked power at the ignition?
If you have full power at battery, I bet it is the fuse, check around the transom for it
Has to be a simple problem.

The main power cables are not fused - but individual circuits that could be run directly off the battery would be - such as a bilge pump. But this doesn't seem like your issue. Any fuse(s) feeding the dash is/are downstream of the battery switch - and they are NOT the issue.

As eluded to above, the most likely cause is just not connecting everything back up again. Check both batteries for the missing or loose ground cable.

If you're positive that that is fine, check for voltage on each supply leg at the battery switch. Then check for voltage on the load side with the switch in the different positions.
