I've been making changes to my 228 I bought last November and finally have it pretty much where I want it. The last item was the Sea Star Power Assist Unit and WOW!! It's definitely not a requirement for a boat this size and it is expensive but my wife has shown interest in going out like I never imagined. So I did not want anything to inhibit or slow that interest like the torque of the F250 when turning at slow speeds.

It has turned out to be one of the best upgrades I've done to date. It's literally like power steering on a car and makes navigation extremely easy compared to before. I also changed the wheel out from a 15" to a 13.5" with knob at the same time. The only fault I see is trouble refraining from just joy riding with gas at $4 a gallon.

Hopefully now you can sit with your feet up over on the port side and doze off while she's at the wheel.

So don't enjoy it too much, it's really for her!

Unlike counter-rotating twins, singles can be difficult to turn even with hydraulic steering, very difficult at times.
