I have a 2025 Freedom 285. After only 60 hours on my engines I had to replace both of my AGM batteries. I hooked up shore power after my battery replacement and my ProSport HD20 battery charger-after 24 hours -was showing a persistent error ("2") on the second bank. Further investigation shows my new AGM batteries, wiring, fuses are all fine- the battery charger is bad. I am thinking about replacing my ProSport HD 20 with a ProTournament 240 Elite. Would that be a better choice? Any one else seeing a problem with their ProSport HD battery charger (or AGM batteries)? Also are you hooking up your battery charger (using shore power) after every boat run? How long would you let a boat sit in it's dry slip before turning on the battery charger? Thanks.

I believe that charger has a 3 year warranty. Call them and explain your issue. I have had that exact charger on my Scout for years. I keep the charger on the batteries continuously and get good battery life. First check the voltage output of the charger at the battery banks, assuming you have 2 banks. Read the manual as to what the voltage should be during the different charge cycles. Try swapping the charging leads to make bank 1 into bank 2. If the problem follows the new bank, them it is likely the charger, which should be under warranty. I have had several promariner chargers and had no problems.

Pro Mariner is generally a good company with good products and support. I've had multiple PM's over the years... going back 25+ years. Add in friends/customers PM's... and that's a LOT of PM chargers. I'd give them a call. If you're near your GW dealer, they might be able to do it for you (warranty).

I have owned several ProMariner chargers over the last 15 years. One went "dark" on me. I had chronic problems with melting the fuse holders. Fuse holder problem was so bad you could hookup shore power and grab the fuse holders and they would be hot to the touch. The latest one is a ProMariner ProSport 20 HD which has improved fuse holders and has been working fine.

Two weeks ago, after my transom was rebuilt, I brought the boat home. Batteries were fine that day. Plugged the boat in and had the charger on. Next day I had a dead house battery, one dead engine battery and error codes on the charger that wouldn't reset. After testing I decided battery charger was bad. Decided to upgrade to the Promariner ProTournament 360 Elite Series3 4-Bank On-Board Marine Battery Charger.

In spite of the problems I have had with their chargers I keep coming back. I feel they are the best chargers on the market for the money.
