I just repowered my 2005 Marlin with Yamaha F300s. I had a set of merc rev 4 s 15 diameter 17 pitch but can't use the rev 4 with the new yamahas. We tried a set of 4 blade turbos 14.5 diameter. 19 pich 5400 rpms max and 15 diameter 19 pich 3 blades with max rpm 5300. With the 15 diameter 19 pitch 3 blades I was able to get to 5900 rpms with my f250s. The motors are brand new and I know breaking them in I should get a few more rpms but can't see 400/min . On the grady white website their specs are with a 15.5 diameter and 17 pitch 3 blade. I really want a 4 blade prop for the midrange fuel economy running in the crap I'm usually fishing in. Using the standard pitch formula when going from a 3 blade to a 4 blade you keep the same diameter and drop the pitch by 2. This would give me 15.5 diameter with a 15 pitch.
My question is, you guys with Marlins with f300s, what props are you using, what's your max rpm, what hole are your motors mounted in and how's your economy?
Thanks
Nick

Thanks. I have been In Contact with Ken but really I want to talk to some people who have run the new engines and found a prop for their Marlin. All the theory in the world doesn't compare to spinning the props offshore.

if the performance question was to me, I get about 1.3 MPG at 4100 , full fuel, usually 6 people and gear on board. I go 60 miles off shore here on the west coast of Florida so can be an expensive weekend.

1.3 would be great for me. If I can't find a good set of 4 blades I'm going to go with the 15.5 17 pitches they spec the boats with.

REB I sold my props to the dealer, he offered me more than I planned to sell them for so I took it.

Thank Nick. Ill keep watching your performance posts as I am curious on how you like them/worth the upgrade.

Any thoughts on if you think the powertech 18" x 15 1/4 4 blade props may be a better fit on a Marlin with F250's pitch then the 17" rev 4 blades you were running?

Not sure man. I was able to get 5900 rpm with the 15 diameter 17 pitch props so I don't think you're going to want anymore pitch.
The new yamahas are geared differently and Gw specs them with 15.5 diameter, 17 pitch 3 blades. I ran offshore the other day with my old 15.25 19 pitch props and was get surprised at the performance I was able to get. The new engines really have a lot of power and there isn't that falling off a plane when you hit a wave affect that I hated so much about these props with the old engines. My new props are the 15.5 17 pitch sds props and we will see how those preform and I will post my performance numbers.

Thanks for the info Nick! You probably told me but do you remember what your WOT number was with your 17" rev 4's? I appreciate your help.

Not specifically but if you search my posts you will find them. Truth is I got better numbers in the river no doubt with the 4 blades and it handled better offshore but I never got more than 1 mpg offshore.
