I am planning to buy a Magma propane grill, but am concerned about an open flame being so close to 150 gallons of gasoline. Should I opt for an electric version instead? Is there any risks of the flame igniting vapors from the fuel tanks?

I have the Magma round one, love it, and use it regularly. I believe most choose to mount it (as I do) in the rod holders on the opposite sie of the boat from the gas fill. I haven't heard of issues, but I wouldn't put it on top of the fills :D

I third the comments and seek a motion to buy the Magma grill...

My magma grill hasn't left the boat in months, used twice last weekend.
The biggest hazard is the whole grill will get white-hot, be careful when rafted up or when there are children around.
Other than that the thing is sweeeeeeeeeeet.

One other thing to consider: I place a wet towel (old) underneath and around where the grill mounts. This prevents anything from hitting the fiberglass if it should drop from the grill and also allows me some workspace to put the BBQ utensils down and food. Makes for an easy cleanup as well.
