PTT Motor Replacement

New to the forum and new to Grady White. I am an avid user of forums to research and study things I like to work on. I am currently working on getting my 208 Adventure seaworthy again after the previous owner let it sit for many years. I found the PTT motor is severely coroded and has a hole in the cover. So it needs to be replaced. My question is: Do I need to remove the engine and mount from the transom to do this repair or can I do it while the engine is still mounted on the boat? It is a PTT motor on a 94 Johnson Ocean Runner 175hp.

I replaced one once on a 1990 225 Yamaha and I did partially remove to outboard to gain access to the bolt at the back of the PTT motor. I suspended the outboard from above and left everything connected. I wanted to inspect the transom at the same time so I didn't work real hard to see if I could change the PTT without removing the outboard.
