I have just been told that the drive motor on my Raymarine radar is bad and Raymarine is the only source for a replacement motor and their flat rate for the repair is $975. My boat and all the manuals are 120 miles away, but I think the radar is a E52011 or a 52011-S. Does anyone know of a possible cheaper alternative to repair it or have an opinion about whether I should just buy a new replacement? Are the newer digital models better and worth the upgrade? I seldom go offshore, mainly want the radar is case I get into fog while fishing for stripers this winter and would also like to be able to see where the other distant boats are fishing for them.
