Hello,

I have a (new to me) '96 Adventure 208, and would like to raise the seat about 4". The seat has no built-in function for this, so I'm wondering if it's possible to purchase extensions for the captain's seat, or a custom-length post, etc?

Thanks!
Syman

If I remember correctly, the seat posts are straight - meaning not tapered at the ends. Double check. If so, measure the diameter and get a new one - then cut it to whatever length you want. Another way is to remove the spider from the bottom of the seat and make a spacer (plywood, starboard, etc). You will need longer bolts, of course.

I had the same issue on my 208. Ideally, I would have liked an adjustable post but I was not able to find one with a D base. Other D bases that I did find required space below the base for the shaft and that was not feasible.
At a NY boat show a while back, I saw a company that had an extension that slipped over the post and got secured with a bolt that tightened into the existing post. 6 inch was too tall so I cut the adapter down to about a 3 1/2 inch rise. the cut has to be even and smooth since that is what the seat slips onto. A machine shop can do that easily. I can't remember the name of the company, I will try to find it. II do remember the piece was about $55 or so.
For short guys like me and who are apparently getting shorter, this adapter is great.

Thanks Seasick. Would love to know if you remember that company name, but please don't spend too much time on it!
