It was a busy day for the Reel Draggin' TAckle Anglers on the Muff Diver Wednesday 16 July. We departed OC at 5am headed for the structure around the dog and the bone. After lines were in for about 10 min we get our first bite. It takes line and lots of it several times, so we know it a big in. Sink the gaff and get our over fish on ice, 63" and 158 pounds. We continue to fish the rest of the day looking for an under fish to fill the slot. By the end of the day we went 9 for 10, all but one was over 100 pounds. The last fish of the day, around 2:15pm was our under fish. We brought back a bunch of tired anglers. I will post more pictures tonight, here is a picture of the big guy on the scales:

The big ones are deep and lazy. Get your lines deep and send your way backs out 900 to 1200 feet. Our weighted Flashers on the way backs and dredges on the down riggers have been hot. Also, skirting Hoos with our small 5" slammers have been hot. The key is to get your lines deep. TROLL SLOW. We did a presentation on this at several MSSA meetings this year.

If you want to learn these tactics first hand, check out our web site we have several openings on our offshore seminars. Now is the time to get out there while these big fish are still around.
