Refinishing / painting the deck on an Islander 268 1999

As we all know the decks on our boats take a beating. The chips, the cracks and the scuffs. I am at a point that even when I scrub the deck it’s still a stained and scuffed surface that won’t repel dirt and grime but just absorbs it and stains. What’s the best approach for this? Compound and deck wax? Two part epoxy with non skid, or just gel coat the deck. I don’t want to do the spongy peel and stick deck mat that you see on bow riders and sea rays……

I use a cheap harbor freight wool pad and compound the deck once a year. I use a spray wax as a sealant. The problem with waxing the deck is that it's hard to remove everything and that makes it slick. The spray wax does a decent job and followup with the starbright deck cleaner as maintenance.

If you want to refurb the deck try Kiwigrip. I used it on my little boat over 10 years ago. If you don't like it down the road and you want to go with a gelcoat/paint sand finish Kiwi isn't to bad to remove.
