Replacement Wood and Clear Cover

Boat: 1996 Grady White 228G

1) Does anyone know what the type of wood used around the electronic housing and on the cover that protects the electronics housing. It's 30 years old and harely handing on so I'd like to replace it.
2) What is the material of the clear cover? It's also pretty battered and thinking I would like to buy or make a replacement if I can figure out the correct material.

My guess would be Teak, however you could call Grady customer service and get
the answers.

Clear covers are acrylic plastic. The teak trim is probably not real wood. Some kind of fake teak plastic - at that is what's on mine.

That is a very dated "look". I eliminated those clear covers on my 1997 ?Islander. Also replaced the gauge panel and switch panel (switches too). All the newer electronics have some water resistance like IPX6. The trend is to flush mount. Here is what mine look like. Remember I had fake teak panels and clear & black covers before. Overhead box is original.

Wow that looks a lot nicer, thanks for sharing! I don't have an enectronics stoage up top like you do, only the two compartments down below but will consider flush moutning my CL5 lower display. I wanted to mount it in my with Garmin but there isn't enough room. I suspect when they made this boat in 1994 they never expected someone would have so many screens : )
