We had to replace de gas tank on our boat. It was horrible, we had to cut the deck and redo everything. At least GW Customer Service was awesome, we called and they referred us to the tank manufacturer and part number, so we replaced it with the exact dimensions.

Also we took the time to remove the bottom paint since it is on Dry Stack. And also Repainted the Engine and added new decals.

Here are some pics of the project:

Great job ramon!!! Thats a true testimment to why guys should recalk their hatch seams every few years. I had a soft spot on the main tak hatch on the Sailfish and after seeing how much water got past the seams, pulled up the hatch for the aux tank and recalked that. The motor looks great also!! Please advise your procedure for painting the lower unit. Gotta do mine.

Hi
I am planning the same project. Any more pictures or advice? Is it possible to leave the front steering section of the console installed?

I would like to remove the bottom paint on my Seafarer as well, was it a hard project? Can you provide steps that you used? Thank you.

Sometimes you just have to dig in an make it happen. Looks like you did a super job. Not sure why GW doesn't use poly tanks on some of the smaller units. I have seen that they are being made for large tanks as well today. Hoes, fuel system, fiberglass deck/transom repairs all come with these boats. It's just time for most. Nice job and thanks for sharing as it gives everyone an understanding of the work involved and how they can tackle.
